Bel Bailey is an artist living in Coastal Devon. She finds inspiration through her deep connection with the sea, having spent many years, during her previous career as a GP, unwinding by playing on the sea on boats and boards as well as swimming. She loves responding with her art to the moods of seasons and weather patterns. She loves the meditative process of working on fine detail and layering and always seeks to find shapes in the land, sea, atmosphere and light to inspire composition of her work. She enjoys using mixed media as well as individual media, but particularly favours oils, as well as watercolour with gouache finished to a soft sheen with wax. She has enjoyed some fabulous courses at Newlyn School of Art and elsewhere, continually developing her practice through experimentation and learning.
